Structure

POSTEL associates in a perennial way research laboratories (Expertise Centres) and a service provider (Service Centre) in order to produce spatialized biogeophysical products derived from space observations, and distribute them to the scientific community and other users.

The POSTEL biogeophysical products characterize terrestrial surfaces at regional to global scale. They concern the description of vegetation (leaf area index, fraction of vegetation cover, burnt areas ...), radiation at surface level (albedo, downwelling radiation, temperature), and water (humidity, precipitations, evapotranspiration ..). The multisensor character of products will become more and more emphasized as technological and scientific advances become available.

POSTEL strengthens the links between research laboratories and service centre by participating to an ensemble of national and European projects.

POSTEL is supported by public national institutions linked to the spatial and scientific domains : CNES, CNRS, Météo-France, INRA, et IRD.
