The Meteorological Institute of Portugal, in charge of the Land Surface Analysis (LSA) SAF, has identified Postel as a contact point of the AMMA community. In this framework :
  IM provides Medias-France, which hosts the Postel Service Center, the surface albedo derived from the SEVIRI / METEOSAT Second Generation (MSG) data.
  Postel collects, synthetize and transmits to IM the feedback of the users from the AMMA community.

The transfer of the SAF LSA products from IM to Medias-France is operational since July 2005. The hemispherical albedo integrated over the whole solar spectrum, available since September 2005, is re-sampled on a regular grid at 0.05° resolution, and the West African zone (25°W to 25°E, 5°S to 20°N) is extracted. These files are transmitted every 1/2 hour to the AMMASAT database where they are accessible to the AMMA community.
