AMMA Project

The Meteorological Institute of Portugal, in charge of the Land Surface Analysis (LSA) SAF, has identified Postel as a contact point of the AMMA community. In this framework :
-  IM provides Medias-France, which hosts the Postel Service Center, the surface albedo derived from the SEVIRI / METEOSAT Second Generation (MSG) data.
-  Postel collects, synthetizes and transmits to IM the feedback of the users from the AMMA community.

The transfer of the SAF LSA products from IM to Medias-France is operational since July 2005. The DLR, available since September 2005, is re-sampled on a regular grid at 0.05° resolution, and the West African zone (25°W to 25°E, 5°S to 20°N) is extracted. These files are transmitted every 1/2 hour (see animation below) to the AMMASAT database where they are accessible to the AMMA community.
